Private Tutoring Terms & Conditions
Last updated: February 6th, 2026
FEES PAYABLE
All invoices should be paid directly to Supertutor Media and not to the individual tutor. New clients may apply a single pre-paid lesson toward a package as a one time courtesy. In all other cases, any single lessons shall not be applied toward a future or previous package purchase and all packages must be paid in advance of the lessons applied to them.
No further fees shall be charged for scheduling time or general preparation time of the Tutor. However, Tutors are not expected to review student work or essay material outside or provide personal college consulting outside of booked time. If students would like proofreading, material review or further assistance outside of booked lesson time, this work is at the discretion of the Tutor and if accepted will be billed at the Tutor’s full hourly rate (pro-rated to the nearest 5 minute increment) or taken off an existing package based on the amount of time the review takes.
Fees may be adjusted from time to time and shall become effective after having given the Student seven days written notice. If fees change while a student is on a package, Supertutor Media will make best efforts to retain the rate previously agreed to upon package purchase until any current packages or prepaid lessons are exhausted, so long as the package was purchased within the last 6 months. If for some reason this is not possible, or if more than 6 months have passed since the package was purchased, the credit on the package will be applied toward the same package level rate available with the same tutor and a supplement to make up the difference would be due OR if/when available, student may choose to apply the package to an alternate tutor at the previous package rate. If a suitable replacement is not available or at its discretion, Supertutor Media may alternatively offer a pro-rated refund of the unused portion of a package at the package rate. After a tutor rate increase, subsequent packages will be billed at the new rate. Package value does not expire; however, tutoring rates may change over time and value per lesson pricing is subject to change.
PAYMENT
Payment shall be made no later than 24 hours before the start of a tutoring lesson or the start of the first tutoring lesson on a package. Payment will be made online via Noto, via Zelle to supertutortv@gmail.com, or via personal check (in person clients or package clients only).
CANCELLATION AND REFUND
Lessons not attended for any reason by the student without giving 24 hours prior notice to the Tutor at the Tutor’s Supertutor email address (First Name @ supertutortv.com) and cc’d to supertutortv@gmail.com OR canceled through our Acuity Scheduling online portal shall be charged at the full rate. Any rescheduling or lesson shortening requests made with less than 24 hours notice before the beginning of the lesson time will be charged full lesson charges. If a student is unavailable for a lesson, he or she may send essays or other material for review before the start time of the lesson for the tutor to review remotely in lieu of an in person meeting. If material is not received by the start time of the missed lesson, no additional essay review shall be given. If the Tutor cancels a session for any reason and at any time prior to the start of the session, Supertutor Media agrees to apply that payment to a future session that the Tutor and Student agree upon. In the case that a Tutor cancels a final lesson with a student or the cancellation will prevent a student from using the entirety of his or her package, Supertutor Media will refund the full charge of the lesson to the student upon the student’s final lesson with the Company.
Any packages purchased and not used in their entirety will be refunded at the pay-as-you-go rate. For example, if Monica purchases a package of 10 lessons for $1100 for a tutor whose pay as you go rate is $130, and uses four lessons, and has six lessons remaining when she asks for a refund, she would be refunded $1100-$130(4)=$560.
Packages are interchangeable between tutors at the same rate. Any remaining package value can be applied to a pay-as-you-go rate for any available tutors or redeemed for full price group classes or full-priced digitally delivered courses.
PRIVACY
Supertutor Media’s full privacy policy can be found at supertutortv.com/privacy. We take your privacy very seriously and know that the essay process is at times very personal. Please know that we do run a YouTube channel and may anonymize student stories and outcomes in ways that are non-identifiable (i.e. we would report 2 of our senior applicants are headed to Columbia, or say that we had a competitive swimmer get admitted to a top 10 university or to his first choice university, or we had one test optional student get into Brown, or 12% of our students went test optional, but would would not say in a video or blog that we have a swim recruit headed to Stanford in the class of 2026 or a test optional student majoring in English from San Diego get into Brown this year. (Please note these examples are hypothetical, not actual outcomes). We also might share from time to time general themes or trends in essays, in ways that often may surprise our clients. Please know that many essays have similar themes or ideas (for example, I’ve had five students in the last several years write about building prosthetic devices for hands or legs, whether 3D printed or otherwise engineered, and probably 5 students write about their Rubix Cube talents). Our goal is to offer relevant information but we in no way want to expose or identify specifically who our clients are, and take caution in the way we share information to this end.
LATE ARRIVAL / LESSON SHORTENING
Fees are calculated according to the scheduled time agreed upon by the Tutor and Student. No adjustment to fees shall be made for time lost because of late arrival by the Student or by early termination of session by the Student. Any lost time because of the late arrival of the Tutor shall be compensated for by extending a lesson by mutual agreement and by such amount of time that was lost. The Tutor agrees to wait fifteen minutes from the time of the scheduled session for the Student’s arrival before considering that session canceled without sufficient prior notice and therefore subject to the terms set forth in the CANCELLATION AND REFUND policy.
OBLIGATIONS OF THE TUTOR
- The Tutor undertakes to do all preparation prior to lessons and to structure lessons in such a way as to optimize time to the benefit of the Student. Please note reviewing student essays, resumes, applications or work is not included within preparation time.
- The Tutor shall keep anonymous all identifying information of the Student and shall contact other parties involved in the education of the Student only if given written permission by the Student to do so or shall act otherwise only when required by law.
- The Tutor shall not assign any of his/her duties or obligations under this tutoring contract to a third party without the written permission of the Student.
- The Tutor shall at no time be required or obliged to execute homework, writing, or assignments on behalf of the Student.
OBLIGATIONS OF THE STUDENT
- The Student undertakes to assist the Tutor in identifying problem areas in which the Student needs specific tutoring.
- The Student agrees to provide their own materials needed for each tutoring session (E. g. paper, pencil, etc.).
- The Student agrees that assignments, exercises or homework form an integral part of tutoring and undertakes to complete such work timeously.
- Students and parents warrant that any and all information in any college applications or essays are truthful. Fact checking is the sole responsibility of the student and/or parent.
- All students and parents are responsible for submitting complete, accurate and timely applications. Tutors and coaches do not write students essays for students and are not responsible for late or delayed application submissions.
- Students are responsible for verifying essay prompts and requirements for all applications. The content of any college application is ultimately at the sole discretion of students and parents, regardless of input or suggestions from your Tutor. Tutors do not fill out or submit applications on behalf of students. Any errors or omissions in the application process are the sole responsibility of the student and parents. Consulting sessions are limited in scope and time; students are responsible for approving, uploading, proofreading, and finalizing applications.
- The best essay coaching happens when tutors can engage in conversation with Students. Students requesting essay help are responsible to meet with tutors (typically online) for lessons to review essays. Students should not expect tutors to revise or critique their work extensively outside of meeting time. Exceptions to this policy are on a case-by-case basis, typically in cases of otherwise late cancellations or due to scheduling challenges; all working time is billed or deducted at the tutor’s standard rate.
OBLIGATIONS OF THE PARENT
- Parents agree that it is their children’s sole responsibility to write their college essays and agree not to write student essays for them.
- Our essay coaching process is meant to help elicit a student’s best story. This happens best when parents allow coaches and students to work together in a safe space. To this end, Parents agree to participate in no more than one essay coaching session to allow for students to share themselves without the added pressure of parental interference. Parents are welcome to sit in on or request individual planning sessions for the application process, college strategy, ED vs. RD or course selection consulting, etc.
- Parents agree to respect the tutor’s time with respect to conversations and email outside of booked session time. Parents may email brief questions or updates, but paragraphs of story ideas, pages of backstory, requests to review transcript/resume/parent surveys, or more complex questions should be reserved for in-session time. Alternatively, Parents may offer to pay tutors for review time if they would like tutors to review documents or answer questions remotely/asynchronously subject to Tutor availability..
NO WARRANTIES
The Tutor makes no promises or warranties with regards to a Student’s performance or any admissions outcome as a result of tutoring provided.

Choice of Law and Forum: Any dispute between us arising from or related to these Terms and Conditions will be governed by California law and the exclusive forum for disputes arising from or related to this agreement shall be the state and federal courts of California.
