As Yoda once said to a young Luke Skywalker, “Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.”
This simple principle can help you succeed on the SAT®. Where many students freak out at the sight of a problem they have never seen, the reaction will determine how well you do on your exam. You cannot accept to give up and just guess on a problem and label that as “trying”. That pattern of behavior will only result in a vortex of negative decisions and hurt your score. Instead, take on the problem head on and fight it to get the right answer.
Go in to your exam with the intention of doing, and not just trying. You cannot be complacent during your prep and , even more critical, on the exam. You need to do what needs to be done to get the answer right so when it comes exam day, you have the confidence to tackle any question you may see. It is a mindset that once instilled in your brain, you will not quiver at the sight of an unfamiliar problem again.
