Upper Level Only:
900 Practice Questions for the SSAT & ISEE:This text has a good amount of upper level practice, but is not divided into true practice tests. Recent ISEE tests have been more difficult in the math sections than the practice in this book. A few errors, but solid practice.
Ivy Global ISEE Upper Level Practice Tests: The math is too easy, but otherwise these are decent practice. Tests only!
Upper / Middle / Lower Levels (Combination books):
SSAT & ISEE For Dummies: I don’t recommend this book for SSAT (avoid the analogies!), but it’s solid for ISEE though not as detailed as I’d wish for in the math. It gives an overview of each section by topic and covers the major tutor “strategies” for the test that many private tutors teach. The practice tests are very tight spools to the released practice test for each level; in other words, they are nearly identical to the questions on the official test. This means they’re of appropriate difficulty, but that students will need more breadth of study to master everything necessary as the real test will vary from these topics somewhat. Good word list.
An overall prep book that covers all tests and all sections. Has many classic tips for reading and verbal in particular. The math isn’t sufficient for many students but it’s a start. Contains 1 prep test at each level lower/middle/upper for ISEE.
Middle Level Only:
Math Workbook for ISEE, SSAT, & HSPT Prep: Middle & High School Entrance Exams
If you need lots of math practice, this is your book. It’s not quite tough enough or varied for the upper level test, and tends to repeat very similar question types, but is the biggest math book for ISEE I know of and offers a lot of practice for middle level test takers. High scoring lower level students may also benefit from select chapters.
